RuPay is India’s first domestic card payment network, widely accepted at ATMs, POS devices, and e-commerce platforms. It provides high security and protection against phishing.

The name ‘RuPay’ is derived from ‘Rupee + Payment’, showcasing India’s pride in having its own payment system.

A product of NPCI

RuPay is a product of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It was established under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, empowering RBI and IBA to build a secure electronic payments system for India.
